"I came to Ali halfway through my first season in Mazda racing with a long history of karting experience. I was mid pack and struggling to adapt my driving style to suit the car. On my first race weekend with Ali, he took the time to understand my driving style and worked with me to adjust the car set up to suit it. It immediately moved me from the mid pack to the front!"
"Ali has this great tendency to show you can go faster even if you're already a race winner and championship contender. We would be on a test day somewhere going into a race weekend, I'd be comfortable with the pace relatitve to competitors out there. Ali would say can I jump in and do some laps. If you made the mistake of letting him, he would always beat your time, even by a tenth. That would set me a new target and I would have to go back out and chase it. This could carry on all afternoon on some days but it showed you how to go faster and find lap time"
"I booked a session with Ali hoping to improve my driving. Unfortunately, Ali is so ridiculously good that he has achieved something no instructor has ever managed before: he made me realise just how bloody sh** I am.
Within about three corners, Ali had demonstrated that:
• My braking points were apparently suggestions.
• My racing line was more of a vague artistic interpretation.
• My throttle control could best be described as optimistic.
• And my idea of being “quite quick” was, frankly, hilarious.
Watching Ali drive my car was like watching someone explain quantum physics to a Labrador.
The really annoying thing is that he makes it look completely effortless, smooth, precise and ridiculously fast — while I’m hanging on wondering whether I’ve accidentally entered a different sport.
10/10 instructor. Absolutely brilliant.
Would highly recommend Ali to anyone wanting to become a better driver.
Personally, I’m considering taking up golf"
